Give us a basic rundown on what you and your business are about?
Griner Moving Services, LLC is a moving company based here in Tallahassee, Florida as well as our new location in Mobile, Alabama. We are slightly different from the competition. We move household, commercial, offer full services, packing and storing, as well as top notch customer service. We have upfront pricing and very clear contracts to ensure our customers have the best experience at such a stressful time.
What made you want to start your business?
After having multiple terrible experiences with moving companies, seeing their "bad reputation" to the public, and actually working for one for a couple of weeks, I decided I can do something different and do it better. I moved from my family and started this venture on my own and I am so proud when we have so many positive experiences. Moving can be chaotic, it's important to have movers who will make the transition seamless. That's the model I have created and will continue upholding.
What are you most proud of when it comes to your business?
I am honestly most proud of our team. Without their hard work and dedication we wouldn't be Tallahassee's Best Moving Company. Our movers love what they do, and our office managers do their job with passion and understanding. Without them, we would be nothing. Our growth over the past years has been exponential and it's thanks to them that we have been able to roll with the punches and come out victorious at anything that comes our way.
If you could change one thing about your business, what would it be?
Thankfully, there's not much more I could ever want to do to make this company better than it currently is. Yet, a bigger office and warehouse would help immensely. Since we store clients' belongings until they are ready to move into their new homes, we find ourselves constantly booked full. Having some more space to accept more customers into our storage would be lovely.
What's a typical day in your life like?
Since we are open 24 hours a day 7 days a week, our day starts off officially at 8am every morning. My wife who is the COO of the company is the one who answers all phone calls, closes contracts, deals with all employees, and does our payroll. She manages it all. She wakes up early, catches up on all her emails, drives to work answering clients and once she gets to the office it is time to fill in our sales manager with any updates on customers and they dream team the rest of the day. When I come into the office I make sure all supplies are up to inventory standards and I mostly spend my time looking for new ways to expand our business. Multiple phone calls and meetings throughout the day to implement new plans in terms of expansion. Even after we leave the office around 5pm we never really stop working. She is still accepting calls throughout the night and I continue to email and strategize. Thankfully we love what we do and wouldn't have it any other way.

How do you balance your work life and personal life?
Thankfully being the owner and my wife the COO, we like to take weekend trips to different places to relax and de-stress. Most of the time we still answer phone calls on vacation but on special occasions we have our wonderful Sales Manager take them over for the time being. Travel is a large passion of ours
What inspired the name of your business?
The name of my business was really just inspired by my last name. This company is my pride and joy and as the first business venture I have ever done, it was important for me to leave my mark by using my last name.
Austin Griner, Founder and CEO of Griner Moving Services
What is your company's biggest strength?
Our company's biggest strength would honestly have to be our customer service. We might come in higher than our competitors some times but it's the customer service we provide that makes customers want to pay that premium knowing they will be well taken care of. We make a point to be understanding, compassionate, and honest at all times with all customers whether they book with us or not. Most of the time you call a moving company and their only want is to get you on their schedule rapidly and sometimes forcefully. We like to take our time, understand our customers needs and difficulties and really go the extra mile to make sure they get everything they need and more.
What are your goals for your business?
Our goal is to continue expanding into other cities while still keeping the company family owned and operated. We want our growth to happen from the inside out, we are not interested in investors paying a premium just to open up a location and use the Griner name. Our reputation is everything to us and we will continue making it our priority.
How do you feel your business contributes to the community?
We like to always be a part of the community and give back in any way we can. We partner with multiple charities and apartment complexes that do food drives, supply drives, etc. We provide our boxes, supplies, and even men sometimes to help give back as much as we can. We plan to continue our contribution to the community and grow with it as much as we can.
Where do you see yourself in five years?
In five years, I see this company having multiple branches and becoming The Best Moving Company in every city we expand to.
How do you spend your day(s) off?
Truly, we don't have any days off. Yet, the hours we do have free time we like to spend it with family and friends. Quality time is the most important thing to us.
If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?
Switzerland would be my number one choice, their beautiful scenery, nature, and mountains is what really attracts me to that country. I love being out in nature and their culture and country are beautiful. I can't wait to immerse myself in it one day.
How can our community help your business grow?
Community is everything. Without the good words of our customers to friends, colleagues, and families here in town, we wouldn't be as successful as we are now. They are ones who decide who continues to grow and who shouldn't. The power of someone's word is so heavy, we are blessed to have such a good standing in our community.
